Workshop

When a patient asks: ‘What are we going to do in this psychotherapy?‘, I draw this picture and discuss the options and choices. I start with the main concern of the patient and sketch how the different approaches to therapy can offer different therapeutic experiences and possibilities. Often I start therapy with exploring their goals for therapy, (the Future), than we start to built the clients strengths and resilience by looking at their health, day-night rhythm, food, social support, money, work etc. i.e. the grounding Earth of their lives. In therapy we often travel back to the Past, to revisit experiences and restructure traumas and patterns that influence the patients current life. And we can finish a therapy by looking at feelings and wishes about their place in society and life (their inner Heaven), leading to new motivations and plans for the Future. Conclusions During evaluation and decision moments in therapy we return to this model as a simple and helpful tool for exploration. ENTER THERAPY MODEL: The four dimonsions are: - FUTURE : = Plans, goals, motivation (RATIO) - PAST: = Roots, patterns, insights (AFFECT) - EARTH: = Foundation, structure, basics (BIOLOGY) - HEAVEN: = desire, values (SPIRIT /SOUL)
