Workshop
Heart Assisted Therapy (HAT) is a dynamic, integrative, humanistic, and mindfulness-enhancing model of psychotherapy. It stems from an integration of observation, traditional and energy psychotherapy approaches, and energy science. HAT is a holistic mind/body model that incorporates the use of cognition, emotion, memory, body sensation, heart influence, and a stabilizing breathing treatment while overlapping hands are placed over the heart (“heart-breaths”).
HAT is a focused psychotherapy model that uses “Awareness Streaming” in concert with the body’s innate electro-physiology and respiration throughout the process. The HAT model complements any theoretical orientation, and can be employed throughout the diagnostic spectrum.
HAT self-regulation protocols (HAT-SR) evolved from using HAT in individual psychotherapy sessions. The HAT-SR protocols were originally designed to help and support the individual between sessions…but these protocols have taken on a life of their own. The HAT-SR protocols are now also being used as adjunct treatment in family medicine, for medical staff self-care, with residents in assisted care, in education, athletics, and other research projects.
This workshop will briefly introduce the background and key components of HAT as used in clinical practice, and provide opportunity to experience and practice several HAT-SR protocols.
