Workshop

Personal therapy is an Indispensable part of psychotherapy training. This is where therapists in training can experience themselves in an interpersonal context. They are confronted with their habitual character styles that are evoked in psychotherapeutic conversation. In the Dutch psychotherapy training tradition trainees are free to engage in the therapy model of their preference in either an individual or a group setting. These days we see quit a lot of trainees who look for an occasion to experience contemporary psychotherapy approaches in their training next to the traditional models of psychotherapy. Over the last years we’ve been providing a schema focused psychodynamic psychotherapy group to both therapists in training and patients with personal requests. The schema therapeutic vocabulary provides the group with a helpful language to express feelings and problems they encounter in daily life. The psychodynamic foundations of the character styles are made both comprehensible and visible using psychodrama as an experiential technique. The group setting provides a dynamic environment that enables experiment in interpersonal contact and change. In this workshop we’ll explain the model and there will be an opportunity to experience the rich palette of psycho-dramatic processing and a body-oriented psychotherapy approach.
