Introductie
The WHO has estimated that in 2020 approximately 20% of children and adolescents will experience mental disorders. Financial, social and cultural issues are at the roots of a decreased birth rate, in Italy in particular, but also of an increase in mental disorders in children that can be due to some criticalities in the relationship between caregivers and children. These criticalities do not translate into a behavior, but are acted at an nonconscious level, and may be present even in case of an irreproachable maternal care.
Materiaal en methodes
Our group has a 20-year experience in psychotherapy based on Massimo Fagioli's Human Birth Theory and his discovery of the annulment pulsion. In our experience, symptoms in children suggest specific pathogenetic mechanisms, excluding any organic causes, which are anyway still unproven by the scientific community.
Resultaten
Based on this theoretical framework, we focused our psychotherapeutic intervention involving caregivers individually and, sometimes, also children, on the relationship between children and their caregivers. This type of intervention allowed us to prevent, diagnose and cure child mental disorders that can turn into adolescent or even adult mental disorders.
Conclusie
The hereby presented psychotherapeutic treatment is aimed at the cure, and not at the (re)habilitation, of mental disorders in children.
