Introductie
This study challenges the current range between authentic view of Beck's cognitive and Wells's meta-cognitive therapy and to compare the efficacy of the treatment in reducing symptoms of dysthymia.
Materiaal en methodes
It was a case study which held for 2 groups with 6 participants in each group. lack of any psychological treatment earlier, lack of medicine, a diagnosis of dysthymia without the simultaneous detection of other Axis І and II, being aged 18 to 45 years and at least have 12years education were criteria for participation.They were divided randomly into two groups. Pre-treatment (baseline) and during the session fourth and eighth and after treatment (twelfth session) and also follow-up period (two months after treatment). Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Dysfunctional Attitude Scale (DAS), Internal-External Locus of Control Scale (IE-scale) were completed by the subjects.
Resultaten
The results showed that both treatments are effective (p<.01) and there was no significant differences between two groups,Results showed meta-cognitive therapy and cognitive therapy with57 to 82 recovery rate were effective.
Conclusie
cognitive and metacognitive therapy are both effective in dysthymia. Change response in thoughts instead of challenging with thoughts, as well as identify and change beliefs, lead to reducing symptoms.
