Introductie

In the English garden on the top of the hill near the disaster area, the telephone box where the classical telephone was set without line was placed in 2011. That monument was for the private but later open for the victims. Over twenty thousand people from the world as well as Japan have visited there.

Materiaal en methodes

We analyzed the visitors’ message and discussed the roles of this monument and therapeutic functioning.

Resultaten

The visitors’ background was diverse but they had the common experience: feeling of communicating with their loved ones. They talked with them and sensed that the loved ones actually listened to them.

Conclusie

The telephone box provided the bereaved the place where they could express their deep grief by the words and send the message to the deceased. It was found that this experience was very helpful for the bereaved to be able to have the sense of connection with the loved one and continuity of their life.
