Workshop

“Sometimes in life confusion tends to arise and only a dialogue of dance seems to make sense.” Shah Asad Rizvi (Sindhi Sufi Poet) The ability to access imprinted embodied memories through non-verbal therapies may help clients and therapists further therapeutic processes. These processes allow recognizing core emotions and lived experiences. This workshop is designed to provide therapists with additional tools and insights through various modes of intervention in couple's therapy. In this workshop participants will explore diverse methods of joint movement that will be based on dance movement therapy techniques, partner dances, and central argentine-tango principles of movement. These methods will aim to assist couples and individuals in their reflection of inter-relational dynamics. Through an experiential working process we will address relational topics that foster change processes as related to psychotherapeutic theories. By observing and focusing on body-mind paradigms, practitioners will gain an understanding of new avenues in relational psychotherapy. They will also be acquainted with inter-relational themes in couple's therapy that confront therapeutic patterns that are relevant to clinical practice such as collaboration, distance, and proximity. The workshop is suitable for clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, couple's therapists, expressive therapists, mental health practitioners, and psychiatrists.
