Emotional Intelligence, Training, Home/School partnershipSummary
People’s belief system and ways of practice do not change easily. Thus professionals who work with children and parents are encouraged to continue to conversation and training on emotional intelligence to support lifelong learning opportunities. It is based on social learning theory and ecological model found in Sung (2010) study. The parent education classes continued for two years in public elementary school in Silicon Valley, California, in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years. The parents met once a week for 13 weeks. The parents’ feedback and testimonials at the end of all sessions added to the existing data. A roundtable discussion will give participants insights and awareness that emotional intelligence can be promoted at home when parents apply their knowledge. The goal is to increase emotional competencies that support learning and life’s journey.
