We investigated the influence of practical training on the attitude toward career planning among students studying at a junior college and aspiring to obtain Yogo teacher certification. We also examined issues related to the practical training itself. In response to a questionnaire administered as part of the study, 81.8% of students said that their assumptions about the professional duties of Yogo teachers had changed since matriculation.Prior to being introduced to the practical training component, 45.5% of the students answered that they “aspire to become a Yogo teacher.” In contrast, following the training, students demonstrated a clearer intent to become Yogo teachers, with 78.3% responding that they either “definitely intend to become a Yogo teacher” or “intend to become a Yogo teacher if possible.”Students also expressed certain anxieties regarding the training. The expressed anxieties were related to knowledge and ability, the demonstration classes carried out as part of the practical training, and communication with others. Students’ self-evaluation and the changes in their assumptions about professional duties indicate the critical importance of close collaboration among high schools and junior colleges regarding career education initiatives, particularly in light of these students’ brief course of study.
