Summary

Using Creative Cards to Empower All Age Immigrants to Cope with Hardships in their Life.

School psychologists in many countries around the world face the challenge of helping new immigrants. Newcomers arrive from different cultures, have language barriers, and can be carrying painful and traumatic experiences from their homeland, as well as traveling to their new country.

Creative Cards contain therapeutic images that are cross culturally recognizable, thus can enhance communication and bridge over the cultural and linguistic gap between the newcomers and their therapeutic helpers. The Creative Cards belong to an extended family of resources for creative counseling and psychological interventions. Creative Cards can be used individually or in groups. These characteristics make Creative Cards suitable for working with all age students, teachers, and parents.

In a short presentation, we will highlight the main elements of working with Creative Cards. Then we will guide the participants in an experiential practice with Creative Cards, both as helpers and clients.

The workshop will encourage the participants to incorporate Creative Cards as an integral part of their professional tool bag and practice.
