This roundtable discussion, facilitated by ISPA Student Ambassadors, will focus on how school psychology students pursuing transnational work can make the most of opportunities in graduate school while optimizing their wellbeing. First, participants will discuss what it means to be a transnational scholar and ways of contributing to the field of international school psychology. Participants will be invited to share experiences they have had pursuing research or fieldwork outside of their country of origin. This will be followed by a brief discussion of the rewards and challenges of living and working abroad, including the personal, familial, financial, cultural, socio-political, and legal implications. The second half of the roundtable will center on strategies for surviving and thriving in graduate school. This will include sharing tips for maintaining good work-life balance, as well as evidence-based skills, habits, and routines for maximizing psychological resilience. Participants will be invited to ask questions to facilitators, who will share lessons learned from their own experiences navigating graduate studies at home and abroad. Finally, facilitators will present a compilation of resources to support graduate students of all nationalities, and will invite participants to contribute additional resources of their own.
