School and educational psychology is commonly held to be an international discipline, but only recently has scholarship begun to explore how true internationalization may be best achieved, or even what “internationalization” most fully means. Many recognize that goals for internationalization are not only to adapt and transfer technology and knowledge to support different parts of our world, but for all countries to benefit through the consequent broadening of perspectives that will make our discipline truly universal, and hence more effective. Such an understanding requires shared experiences from individuals across the globe. Thus, the central objective of this roundtable is to facilitate dialogue about internationalization with session attendees and discuss perspectives on its development. To provide a general framework for our discussion, facilitators will begin by briefly summarizing relevant scholarship. Discussion with attendees with then consider, for example: (a) what concepts, descriptions, and goals attendees perceive to be most relevant to internationalization; (b) ways attendees believe our discipline does or does not support internationalization; and (c) possible ways our discipline can improve its understanding of, and equitable commitment to, internationalization. The primary focus of this session will be on collaborative discussion regarding internationalization, following the lead of session attendees.
