Summary

Educational consultation contains two goals: 1) to help a teacher or consultee remediate a problem and; 2) to impart knowledge of the problem-solving process to the consultee (Gutkin & Curtis, 2008; Noell & Gresham, 1993; Noell & Witt, 1996.  Examining the secondary goal, this study tested various approaches to facilitate knowledge transfer of the problem-solving process.  This study used a randomized between groups design, and a modification of the ordered-tree analytic technique (Reitman & Rueter, 1980) to examine participant knowledge structures of the problem-solving process. Results from a One-way between groups ANOVA were statistically significant F(2, 199) = 3.61, p = 0.29, partial-η2 = 0.04.  Mean scores showed similar results for the process and didactic groups and lower IPPM scores observed in the control group. This poster will review the current findings, and discuss implications for practitioners, as well as potential areas of future study.
