Summary

The paper focuses on the self-esteem of children with ADHD disorder. There is a correlation between ADHD disorder and self-esteem in several pieces of research. In this contribution, we offer the results of our research in which we were interested if there are differences in self-esteem among children with ADHD and children without this disorder. We assumed that children with ADHD would have lower self-esteem than their peers without this disorder. The survey sample consisted of 92 children (44 ADHD and 48 non-ADHD) aged 10-15 years. For the data collection for self-esteem, we used Rosenberg's self-esteem scale and sub-scale "negative self-esteem" from Children's depression inventory (CDI) and for the personality we used Junior Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (JEPQ) and The Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5)—Child Age 11–17. The results of our research didn´t show statistically significant differences in self-esteem among different groups of children, but we can see some specific and different correlation of self-esteem and some personality dimensions between the groups. At the end of the article, we offer several possible explanations.
