Summary

Student mental health needs are a critical concern around the world. Enhancing student well-being is a critical aspect in mental health prevention and early intervention efforts, and schools are often tasked with promoting such efforts.  In order to engage in effective prevention strategies, school personnel and researchers must effectively identify ways of effectively identifying students who are in need of early intervention and prevention efforts.  Given widespread concern regarding the well-being of children and adolescents around the world, the present study is intended to provide a synthesis of current measurement tools and other indicators of student wellness/well-being.  A synthesis of such tools will be useful to school psychology researchers and practitioners involved in work related to student level mental health and well-being, school-wide intervention, and systems-level change. International implications including similarities in the conceptualization and measurement of child and adolescent well-being will be discussed.
